£12m RSA funding helps 31 companies in second quarter

Funding expected to create or safeguard up to 1750 jobs

Glasgow-based firm Itison recently announced pre-tax profits of almost £1 million in only its second year of trading. That’s a remarkable success, and one that’s partly due to support from Scottish Enterprise.

The company has been awarded a regional selective assistance (RSA) grant of £200,000, which will be used to create up to 29 new jobs in Glasgow.

It’s just one of 31 companies offered more than £12 million in RSA funding between July and September this year. Projects the funding will support represent planned investment of more than £27 million from the companies themselves, and could create and/or safeguard around 1,750 jobs.

21 of the 31 recipients are SMEs. More than half (18) are Scottish-owned, including:

  • GA Engineering, Dundee (£250,000, 40 new jobs)
  • Biofilm Holdings Ltd, Blantyre (£240,000, 20 new jobs)
  • Impact Results Ltd, Glasgow (£250,000, 40 new jobs)
  • Stepper Technology Ltd, Greenock (£180,000, 15 new jobs
“This report shows companies of all sizes, from all over Scotland, benefiting from the regional selective assistance scheme,” said Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise.

“As well as large-scale grants supporting major projects, we are seeing far smaller offers helping SMEs to pursue their growth plans.

“That’s precisely what RSA is designed to do – support businesses, whatever their size, while they invest in growth.

"I’m pleased to see the scheme is continuing to help a wide range of companies over an equally wide range of sectors. It remains one of the most effective business support tools we have at our disposal.”
