BNP Paribas Securities Services to Recruit 80 New Posts in Glasgow

BNP Paribas Securities Services (‘BNP Paribas’) has announced 80 new posts for its Glasgow investment operations with the recruitment process now underway.

The new jobs are the second tranche of a five-year plan to recruit 370 new posts in Scotland after BNP Paribas was awarded Regional Selective Assistance of £3.7million in 2007.

BNP Paribas provides out-sourced fund administration and accounting services to asset managers and financial institutions worldwide. The new jobs will be across a number of areas within the bank’s operations, from administrator through to senior manager level.

Margaret Lees, Head of BNP Paribas Scottish Operations said:

“BNP Paribas is committed to growing its business in Scotland and continues to strengthen its presence in Dundee and Glasgow. We are very pleased with the level of interest we have already had in regards to the positions on offer, as well as the calibre of applicants available. BNP Paribas Securities Services is part of one of the strongest banking groups in the world which offers potential employees exceptional opportunities.”

Jim Mather Minister for Enterprise, Energy and Tourism said:

“This is encouraging news, a welcome boost for Glasgow and a vote of confidence for the Scottish economy at a time when we are all facing the unprecedented challenges of the global downturn.

“Regional Selective Assistance enabled BNP Paribas to go ahead with their expansion in the first place and I am delighted that it now means the company are able to continue recruiting. These 80 new jobs are testament to the enduring skills of the Scottish workforce. This Government will continue doing all we can to support people into work – in particular through our economic recovery programme, which is helping businesses through the current economic difficulties.”

Jack Perry, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise, which has worked closely with the bank, said:

“BNP Paribas’ continued commitment shows that despite recent events within the global economy, Scotland continues to be an attractive location for international companies operating in the financial services sector. This investment will enhance Scotland’s reputation as a centre for financial services excellence, built on factors such as the skills of our people, a competitive-cost base and a well-developed business infrastructure.”
