Finance Secretary visits Dundee-based manufacturer Rautomead

Finance Secretary, John Swinney visited manufacturing company Rautomead in Dundee to learn more about its growth ambitions on Wednesday 18 January 2012.

Established in 1978, Rautomead designs and manufactures continuous casting technology and equipment for non-ferrous metals and alloys including copper, copper alloys, gold and silver.

Scottish Enterprise works closely with Rautomead through its account management approach, and most recently provided research and development (R&D) support and international development assistance through Scottish Development International (SDI). Rautomead sells to a global market, around 43 countries, including Japan, Thailand, China and Germany. In 2010 the company increased staffing levels from 36 to 50 employees, an increase of almost 40 per cent.

Mr Swinney's visit coincided with the release of new statistics on the Scottish labour market, GDP and manufacturing exports.
