Global technology leaders are coming to Glasgow for Scotland's Technology Show

Industry innovators and technology professionals from a broad range of industry sectors will be at the SECC in Glasgow on 11 June, 2013 for Scotland’s Technology Show.

The global technology landscape is evolving fast and knowing and understanding what the next advances are, is crucial for businesses to stay competitive. Hosted by Scottish Enterprise, the free-to-attend event will bring together technology players from across the UK and internationally to discuss trends and challenges for companies working in the areas of Smart Cities & Communities, Health & Care Technology, and Big Data, Cloud & Data Security. The event will also explore the Future of Technology.

The range of specialist keynote speakers includes Derrick McCourt, Director of UK Government for Microsoft, who leads the teams that work with government departments and agencies in transforming relationships between citizens and the public sector through the use of smart technology.

Neil Logan, Chief Technology Officer of Amor Group, a leading international technology company, providing ICT solutions to the public services, transport and energy sectors, will also speak at the conference. Amor recently recorded a fourth consecutive year of strong earnings growth in their final results in 2012, with an increase of 27% in global revenue.

Neil said: “I’m delighted to be speaking at this year’s event. It’s an exciting time in the technology industry and that’s reflected in the wide range of topics on the agenda for this year’s show. We’re very lucky that we have many world-class technology companies based here in Scotland ranging from huge-multi-nationals organisations to many home grown success stories such as Amor.”

The 2013 programme also features industry presentations from Skyscanner, Cisco, Blipfoto, Frost and Sullivan, Kelvin Capital, Cloudtomo, George Hazel Consultancy, ESM Investments Ltd, and many others. Delegates will have the chance to explore cutting edge technologies from companies such as pureVLC, SELEX ES and Holoxica, which recently demonstrated its 3D holographic software on Channel 5’s, Gadget Show. Other demonstrations include Mode Diagnostics and Touch Bionics, whose i-limb software allows users to control their prosthetic with their phone.

This annual event, now in its fifth year, will also incorporate Think Digital Scotland 2013, hosted by Glasgow Chamber of Commerce, which brings together digital leaders and experts to inspire businesses to take full advantage of digital technology to save, trade and grow.
Other programme highlights include: four Demo Zones, Funding & Support, Technology Connections and Meet a GlobalScot, which all provide excellent platforms for businesses to network. The facility to set up pre-arranged meetings with potential customers and suppliers is also available via the matchmaking zone.
