Greenvale AP celebrate Investor in People Award

Berwickshire company Greenvale AP has just been awarded the coveted Investors in People Award.

Established over 40 years ago Greenvale AP is recognised as the country’s largest supplier of high quality fresh conventional and organic potatoes. They currently supply over 700,000 tons of potatoes to Tesco within the UK and despite the recession, on account of their success, the company is actively seeking to recruit additional staff at this time.

Now the company are the proud owners of the Investors in People award – the industry standard for companies and organisations who demonstrate good practice in staff development, processes and procedures.

Duns Operation’s General Manager Douglas Bell said “As a business we recognise the key to our success is through our staff and it is important that we strike the balance between the pressures of production and the need to maximise people’s capabilities. The Investors in People accreditation awarded to the Duns site reinforces the company’s professionalism in encouraging all our staff to develop training and communication techniques. The process provided us with a framework to get the most out of our people, by helping them to gain the knowledge and skills that will drive our business forward and we will now look to roll this out to our other sites”.

Sheila Charters of Scottish Enterprise assisted the firm, via specialist adviser Raymond Boland, with their Investors in People assessment. She further commented “Greenvale AP has shown significant effort and commitment to their staff development, training and its approach to strategic issues. The award is very much aimed at increasing leadership and management development.

“Companies who achieve this standard have reported improved customer satisfaction, greater team spirit and improved productivity. Staff generally feel much more involved with their companies and have a more direct interest in the operation.”

Scottish Enterprise continues to support organisations through Investors in People in a bid to encourage local companies to embrace organisational development and thereby become more globally competitive.
