Guest speakers confirmed for prestigious oil awards

The speakers for this year’s Scottish Offshore Achievement Awards have been confirmed as award-winning business correspondent, investigative journalist and documentary film-maker, David Strahan and head of the energy and policy branch at the Scottish Government, David Rennie.

The ‘Oil Oscars’ are widely regarded as one of the most prestigious oil and gas industry competitions in the UK. The awards ceremony and dinner will be held at the Aberdeen Exhibition and Conference Centre on 25th March 2010 to celebrate the success of the finalists. Now in their 25th year, these landmark awards showcase and recognise excellence, innovation and achievement across the sector.

Organised by Scottish Enterprise and supported by industry sponsors, the black-tie event will be hosted by Jackie Bird.

Adrian Gillespie, director of energy and low carbon technologies said: “We are delighted to welcome our guest speakers to the event this year. It is very timely to have David Rennie speaking at the event as he will very shortly take up a lead position in SE’s Oil & Gas team when he joins on secondment from the Scottish Government.

I’m sure guests will enjoy hearing about their experiences in the sector and their vision for the future. It is by collaborating and working in partnership and sharing our ambitions and goals that the oil and gas industries will continue to play a vital role in the growth of the Scottish economy.”
