Innovative MicroEmulsion chemical project announced for Technology Park
The company, which was established in 2003, has developed a total environmental waste remediation solution using novel chemical technology that can cut waste by up to 95 per cent in the oil and gas market.
Their new base at Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley's £1.6 million cutting edge technology park in Grangemouth, will provide the right accommodation for the company to expand its research and development in MicroEmulsions technology and will allow further growth of the company at a critical stage in its development. The location incorporates offices with state of the art laboratory and workshop facilities ideally suited to the growing oil and gas industry services business.
Managing director, John Harrison, commented: "We are delighted to have secured space at the Grangemouth Technology Park and are confident that our new facility with its prime location in the centre of Scotland's world-renowned chemicals sector will help firmly cement SASL's position as market leaders in environmental waste remediation for the oil and gas market.
"This new facility is the first bold step in our expansion plans. We aim to create more high value jobs at the new facility to help expedite our ambitious growth strategy and to service the range of contracts that we currently have in place. The move will also help support increased demand for our range of products and services in our expanding international markets."
Stuart Ogg, operations director, Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley, commented: "We are very pleased that Grangemouth Technology Park has proved the perfect solution for SASL's accommodation needs.
"SASL is exactly the type of company that we would like to encourage to grow in Forth Valley and we are clearly delighted with the success in attracting such a significant tenant to the Grangemouth Technology Park.
"Their decision to locate in park is a clear endorsement of Grangemouth's international reputation as a hub for the chemical sector and is also a further positive milestone for My Future's In Falkirk initiative, which aims to encourage growth of service industries and promote Falkirk and the surrounding area as a first class place to do business."
The news of SASL's expansion comes hot on the heels of the recent launch of an ambitious strategy for the chemical sector, Chemical Sciences Scotland. Unveiled in the autumn of 2007, the plan is being driven by the industry in Scotland with support from the government's enterprise agency, Scottish Enterprise, and aims to ensure that a vibrant and competitive chemical industry exists in Scotland in 20 years time.
The chemical industry in Scotland is the country's second largest exporter, generating revenue from exports at £1.3 billion per annum. It is widely recognised as one of the most valuable industries to Scotland in terms of GVA per employee at £74,000 per annum, and employs some 14,000 people directly.
My Future's in Falkirk is an innovative 10 year economic development initiative which is transforming the Falkirk area into a diverse and modern economy and a desirable place to work, live and visit. The area already makes a major contribution to the Scottish economy through its position as the hub of the chemicals industry, its extensive transportation links and its growing reputation as a tourism and leisure destination. To date the initiative has generated a commitment of £750 million of private sector investment into the area - significantly ahead of its original target of £200 million by the end of 2012. In 2012 it is expected that up to 4250 new jobs will have been created and an additional £50 million a year will be generated for the local economy. My Future's in Falkirk is a partnership between Falkirk Council, BP and Scottish Enterprise Forth Valley with funding support from European Regional Development Fund and INEOS.
