International Paper signs exclusivity statement for £60m green energy centre

David Littlejohn, director of Industries and Infrastructure at Scottish Enterprise, commented on today's announcement from International Papers stating it had signed an exclusivity agreement to create a £60 million green energy centre at its former Inverurie Mill site in the North East of Scotland:

"International Paper's announcement today signals the start of a new era for its former Inverurie Mill site which closed less than a year ago.  The creation of a first phase £60m green energy centre, with the potential to create 150 jobs, further enhances Scotland's reputation within the low carbon sector and I welcome this innovative use for this strategically important site. 

"We have worked closely with the company since closure was first considered in November 2008, and so it is particularly satisfying to support this announcement today."
