Leading Scottish companies showcase offshore wind capability
Scotland’s leading offshore wind products and services will be showcased this week at Europe’s bi-annual premier offshore wind energy event, EWEA Offshore Wind 2011.
More than 20 Scottish companies will join 7,500 delegates from around the world to demonstrate progress in the world’s offshore wind energy sector at the key event in Amsterdam.
Supported by Scottish Enterprise (SE) and Scottish Development International (SDI), some of companies will unveil new products and services for international markets at the Scotland Pavilion and deliver three days of direct access to leading Scottish technology, design, research and manufacturing excellence in the sector.
World leading company, Edinburgh-based NGenTec, which designs and supplies generators for MW scale wind turbines will attend and update the industry on progress on the build of its 1MW demonstrator in conjunction with its industrial partner, David Brown Gear Systems.
Anne MacColl, chief executive of Scottish Development International said: “Scotland is a natural breeding ground for indigenous and international companies in the offshore wind sector. We boast fantastic natural resources, world-class infrastructure, skills and ambition, not to mention some world leading companies with innovative products and services that are helping drive down the costs of offshore wind.
"This event provides the ideal platform to showcase our excellence in the field and we will be looking to explore as many new opportunities for collaboration and investment for Scotland’s fast growing offshore wind sector.”
Company executives will be on hand to discuss the latest developments from Scotland, the potential for new and expanded global partnerships and where the industry is headed. In addition to an abundance of technology manufacturers supporting subsea work in the harshest conditions, Scotland will also showcase an unprecedented level of collaboration and partnerships across the industry with public and private sector partners joining forces as ‘Team Scotland.’
A range of SE and SDI programmes, tailor made projects and support packages designed to address company growth challenges in the sector are available to companies with ambitious growth plans in the UK and overseas.
European Wind Energy Association Offshore Wind Event 2011 is the internationally renowned offshore wind energy event will take place from 29 November 2011 to 1 December 2011 in Amsterdam.
