Lord Digby Jones visits Coatbridge company

Minister for Trade and Investment, Lord Digby Jones has visited a Coatbridge company to hear about its success.

The Minister was in Scotland to launch the UK Energy Excellence Marketing Strategy and to meet with representatives of the Scottish Government, Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International.

The former Director-General of the CBI also made time to visit successful businesses working in the energy sector and Coatbridge business, KRG Industries Limited, was identified as an excellent example of a progressive engineering company.

Lord Jones met with the KRG Industries team and heard about their success in the oil and gas and aerospace industries. The family business is an engineering specialist and it aims to be the foremost manufacturing services company within its target markets.

KRG’s success and year on year growth is largely down to its investment in machines, IT systems and high quality people. With 300 employees, it is headquartered in Russell Colt Street, Coatbridge and has more than 200,000 square feet of manufacturing capability across three plants. It recently acquired a business in the north of England.

Scottish Enterprise (SE) Lanarkshire works closely with KRG Industries and is working with the company to support its international activities, workforce development and strategy development. John Kane, Account Manager, SE Lanarkshire accompanied Lord Jones on his visit to the company. John said:

“KRG Industries is a superb example of an ambitious and successful Scottish business. The company is an excellent ambassador for Lanarkshire and I am delighted that they have been able to share their success with Lord Jones.”

Kevin Hughes, Operations Director, KRG Industries, said: “To have direct access to such an experienced and straight talking business leader is invaluable. We were able to use Lord Jones as a critical sounding board and look forward to putting his pragmatic thoughts and ideas into action.”
