New jobs for Wishaw as saved factory opens
EneGroup Ltd launches new facility with help from RSA funding
Scottish Enterprise funding has helped to create new jobs in Wishaw, as EneGroup opens its new factory on the site of the former Powerwall premises.
Scotland’s Minister for Energy, Enterprise and Tourism, Fergus Ewing, officially opened the Enemetric Ltd factory in Wishaw on 1 May, signalling a new beginning for the staff of Powerwall, which went into administration last year.
It was quickly acquired by EneGroup Ltd, saving 30 local jobs, and then integrated (as Enemetric) into the Group’s portfolio with the help of £845,000 RSA funding from Scottish Enterprise.
Instead of being closed down, the factory is now to be the base for work relocated from elsewhere in the UK and Europe.
“We are pleased to be bringing our business into Scotland,” said EneGroup MD Gary Mayatt. “The Wishaw facility will form an integral part of our future UK business strategy.”
Lena Wilson, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said: “This is exactly the kind of project we’re here to support. By choosing to locate in Wishaw, EneGroup has saved 30 local jobs and plans to introduce more in the near future; they are offering quality employment, apprenticeships and development opportunities and making a real difference to this community.
“These are jobs and opportunities that wouldn’t have come to Wishaw – or even to Scotland – without the help of RSA funding. We’re very much looking forward to continuing to support EneGroup as they develop their business.”

About RSA funding
Regional Selective Assistance (RSA) is the main national scheme of financial assistance to industry. It provides discretionary grants to investment projects that will create and safeguard employment in areas designated for regional aid under European Community law.
Payment of RSA is made in instalments, typically over several years as job and capital expenditure targets are met. Not all projects will proceed, and nor do all accepted offers result in full payment, as projects are sometimes scaled down or abandoned before payments are made. The figures quoted represent the maximum grant potentially payable if the project is satisfactorily completed, and not the amount actually paid to date. All job numbers are firms’ forecast figures, and are subject to change depending on future economic conditions and other factors affecting the businesses concerned.
