North-east businesses invited to think creatively
Scottish Enterprise is running an event in Aberdeen called Winning through Innovation, which aims to help companies pursue the development of new ways of working, products and services.
It is part of a programme of activity that Scottish Enterprise is running to help businesses throughout today’s difficult trading conditions and ensure companies are aware of the support available to meet immediate issues, and for longer-term growth opportunities.
Speakers include Doug Richard, a top business innovator and one of the original ‘dragons’ in the television series Dragons’ Den. Doug will be joined by local companies that will share their innovation success stories. The free event takes place in the Marcliffe Hotel on 26 February 2009.
Sara Budge, Company Growth Director, Scottish Enterprise, said:
“There is no doubt that running a business in the current economic climate is challenging. However, now could be the perfect time to think laterally and explore new ideas. Innovation is ultimately about finding new or different ways of making more money. The Winning through Innovation event is a great opportunity for companies to learn more about innovation in its widest sense and how Scottish Enterprise and its partners can work with them to meet their business challenges and capitalise on new opportunities for growth that still exist.”
“Innovation can be the development of a revolutionary product or something simple like improving internal communications to boost productivity. All an idea needs to be innovative is to have a positive business impact. The speakers at this event will demonstrate that innovation is possible in businesses of all sizes and in all sectors.
“We want to increase the pool of innovative companies in Aberdeen City and Shire and broaden innovation beyond purely science and technology.”
The Winning through Innovation event will be hosted by Kaye Adams, one of the country’s most experienced broadcasters.
