Now's the time to ask Scottish Enterprise

There is no doubt that running a business in the current economic climate is challenging. To help businesses understand the support available to meet their business challenges and capitalise on new opportunities for growth that still exist, Scottish Enterprise has today (8 January 2009) launched its ‘Now’s the time to ask’ marketing and communications campaign.

Jack Perry, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, comments, “We know these are difficult trading conditions for business, so we want to ensure companies are aware of the support available to meet immediate issues, and for longer-term growth opportunities.  We want businesses to challenge us with their issues and we are ready to respond with tried and tested support, information and advice.”

Targeted at ambitious Scottish companies, the campaign asks companies to submit their burning business questions to Scottish Enterprise by posting a question on www.nowsthetimetoask.com or calling 0800 141 2128.

Every question submitted will be answered with practical information on how to tackle the issue in question, details of appropriate events, and further resources including business guides, information and advice from Scottish Enterprise and Scottish Development International, or partner organisations like Business Gateway.

The campaign is designed to deliver a better understanding of how Scottish Enterprise can help businesses address their present concerns.  Companies may want to know how to squeeze more efficiencies from current processes, find new markets, develop new products or check whether finances are being managed as effectively as they could be.

The campaign includes a dedicated microsite (www.nowsthetimetoask.com) and a freephone telephone number (0800 141 2128). Press and online advertising across Scottish national newspapers, business publications and online media feature a range of business questions with an invitation to ask Scottish Enterprise a question and an opportunity to book onto a range of practical events and workshops.

The campaign will run until the end of March 2009 with the objective of raising awareness of Scottish Enterprise’s business support, including specific advice on coping with the economic climate, and hopes to introduce Scottish Enterprise’s services to companies which haven’t worked with the organisation recently.

Scottish Enterprise is charged with supporting businesses with the appetite and capacity to grow, especially in those industries where Scotland has real competitive advantage. The organisation works with companies ready to take on the challenges of growth and achieve real scale by providing tools and support services to improve efficiencies, plug into new sources of funding and expand into new markets. Businesses which aren’t eligible for Scottish Enterprise support are directed to partner organisations, such as Business Gateway.

Notes to editors The campaign website is www.nowsthetimetoask.com and features the latest questions posted, case studies of how Scottish Enterprise is helping companies address their current business issues and links to available resources, information and advice.
