Scotland at forefront of global genomics initiative

Scottish Enterprise welcomes the announcement of a new collaboration in genomic medicine which sees Scotland join AstraZeneca’s global genomics initiative

A new collaboration in genomic medicine was, today, announced by Health Secretary Shona Robison and welcomed by Scottish Enterprise (SE).

The partnership between AstraZeneca and the Stratified Medicine Scotland Innovation Centre, which represents NHSScotland, Scottish Universities and industry partners, will offer unique opportunities to researchers using patients’ genetic information to develop innovative new treatments and target the right patients to the right medicines.

Julia Brown, Senior Director, Life and Chemical Sciences at SE said:

“Scottish Enterprise is delighted to participate in this collaboration between Astra Zeneca and Stratified Medicine Scotland, helping the interface between academics, clinicians and industry and in doing so accelerating the translation of innovative projects with real clinical and commercial potential.
