Scotland recognises internationally renowned life sciences sector
The winners of the prestigious Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Awards 2012 have been announced.
Held at the Edinburgh International Conference Centre last night (Thursday 9th February), the event was attended by over 700 people from the life sciences community across Scotland.
As well as celebrating achievements, the awards also recognise the ongoing work of Scottish Enterprise and its partners in growing and developing a sustainable life sciences sector in Scotland.
Rhona Allison, director of life sciences at Scottish Enterprise said: "Congratulations to all the winners of our 12th annual Life Sciences Awards. Each year we see an increasing number of high quality nominations for these awards which is clearly an indication of the significant ambition and potential this industry boasts.
"Our life sciences sector continues to grow even in this challenging economic climate. We are seeing a greater translation of our world-class research into commercial prospects which in turn continues to attract more inward investors to Scotland, providing stronger prospects for the growth of our company base and helping more Scottish companies achieve success in overseas markets.
“Life Sciences is contributing strongly to the Scottish economy today and is delivering on the 15 year strategy to increase global opportunities and create new jobs - ultimately helping to drive long-term sustainable growth back into the Scottish economy."
