Scotland to showcase leading innovation for offshore industry

Scotland’s leading offshore products and services will be showcased next week, 6-8 September, at Europe’s major offshore conference and exhibition, Offshore Europe.

More than 40 Scottish companies will join 1500 exhibitors from around the world to demonstrate advancement in the world’s offshore energy sector at the key event in Aberdeen.

Supported by Scottish Enterprise (SE) and Scottish Development International (SDI), many of the companies will unveil new products and services for international markets at the Scotland Pavilion and deliver two days of direct access to leading Scottish technology, design, research and manufacturing excellence in the sector. In addition, SDI will be supporting a significant number of international delegates from key offshore markets around the world including Australia, Malaysia and Brazil.

Among other new products, Aberdeen-based Online Electronics Limited is launching its new gauge plate condition monitoring system GRID II, that shows multiple damage locations in a pipeline; Renfrewshire-based McGeoch Marine Ltd will be promoting its unique Blast Doors; Banchory-based UPB Ltd will be exhibiting its Unmanned Production Buoy concept and Intervention Rentals Limited will be promoting their new, recently opened, flow meter calibration facility. The Met Office’s Aberdeen team will be launching its new Safesee website which provides detailed site specific wind and wave information tailored for the offshore industry to support safe and efficient playing of day-to-day weather sensitive operations.

Company executives will be on hand to discuss the latest developments from Scotland, the potential for new and expanded global partnerships and where the industry is headed. In addition to an abundance of technology manufacturers supporting subsea work in the harshest conditions, Scotland will also showcase an unprecedented level of collaboration and partnerships across the industry with public and private sector partners joining forces as ‘Team Scotland.’

David Rennie, oil and gas director at Scottish Enterprise said: “Scotland has become a natural breeding ground for indigenous and international companies in the offshore sector to flourish and this year’s Offshore Europe conference provides the ideal platform to showcase our excellence in the field.

“We will be presenting on the opportunities which exist for the oil and gas supply chain within the emerging offshore wind sector and our company growth consultants will be on hand to discuss individual company needs and illustrate how SE has helped accelerate the development and global expansion of many of Scotland’s successful offshore oil and gas businesses."

A range of SE and SDI programmes, tailor made projects and support packages designed to address company growth challenges in the sector are available to companies with ambitious growth plans in the UK and overseas.

David concluded: “We welcome everyone to Scotland for one of the premier global oil and gas conferences. Scotland continues to be an ideal destination for offshore technology companies around the world seeking to grow their business in an environment rich with human and natural resources."
