Scottish economy up for discussion

Scottish Enterprise Chief Executive, Jack Perry, will address over 20 directors from the Fife business community on Thursday 9 October, at an Institute of Directors dinner being held at the Fairmont St Andrews Hotel.

The event, which will also be attended by senior representatives from Fife Council, Fife Constabulary and further education establishments, has been organised to encourage a broad ranging discussion on sustaining and developing the economic future of Scotland.

Mr Perry will give a short presentation outlining the current economic climate, as well as highlighting the refocused mission of SE in Enterprise, Innovation and Investment and what this means for businesses across Scotland.

He said, “Given the future uncertainty over the scale of the economic downturn, and the impact of this across our key industries and customers, it is essential that SE is able to provide support to companies as they navigate through these challenging times.”

“It is important that we continue to engage with our customers, partners and stakeholders to ensure that we respond quickly to the changing demands of their needs.”

Linda McPherson, Operations Director for Scottish Enterprise will also be attending the event.  She added “SE has a key role to play in helping companies respond to both the short and long term challenges of the economic slowdown.

“We already have some very valuable tools which will help customers address some of the issues arising, for example Scottish Manufacturing Advisory Service and lean management programme, both of which help companies increase efficiencies and raise productivity, generating real savings for their bottom line.”

David Watt from the Institute of Directors will facilitate the event and Charles Head, General Manager of Fairmont St Andrews will host the dinner.
