Scottish Enterprise highlights future oil and gas opportunities
Scottish Enterprise will host an oil and gas business breakfast today (Tuesday 7th August) to discuss future prospects for the industry in Scotland.
Aimed at industry, policy makers and stakeholders, the event is designed to provide an opportunity to hear from senior industry leaders on how they view future prospects for the industry and what the opportunities for the supply chain will be.
Complimenting a similar event taking place in London, the business breakfast will take place at the Norwood Hotel, Aberdeen from 0730 – 0945.
David Rennie, Director of Oil and Gas / Thermal Generation & Carbon Capture & Storage (CCS), Scottish Enterprise will welcome delegates at the event. He said: “The oil & gas sector has a crucial role to play in Scotland’s future economic success and it’s vital that industry and public sector partners continue to work together to ensure we make the most of the opportunities for its future growth.
“We’ve already seen an impressive increase in international sales from the oil & gas sector supply chain, for example, which were recently valued at over £7.6 billion.
“The challenge now is to increase this activity by supporting more companies to identify new opportunities, enter new markets and fulfill their growth ambitions. Our recently launched industry led Oil and Gas strategy sets out a clear route to do exactly that.
“This business breakfast is designed to highlight to ambitious companies where the future opportunities within the industry will lie and how senior leaders, both in Scotland and globally, view future prospects for the industry. I look forward to hearing from delegates at the event.”
Speakers at the event in Aberdeen will include Sandy Clark, European Director for Strategy, AMEC; Trevor Garlick, Regional President, BP North Sea and Mike Winstanley, Sales Director, Bowtech Prodcuts Ltd. During the event there will also be a live link up with London where delegates will hear from the Rt Hon Dr Vince Cable, MP; Andrew Brown, Upstream International Director, Shell; Bob Dudley, Group Chief Executive, BP and Andrew Gould, Chairman, BP Group.
