Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Awards finalists announced
Scotland celebrates world class life sciences sector
A number of Scotland’s most dynamic life sciences companies and business leaders have been shortlisted for the prestigious Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Awards 2013.
Successful nominations have been named in seven award categories which celebrate the continuing global achievements of this dynamic sector. Held annually, the awards dinner attracts more than 700 people from the life sciences community both in the UK and abroad, to highlight Scotland’s most innovative companies across the sector.
As well as recognising success and achievements, the awards will also focus on the ongoing work of Scottish Enterprise and its partners to grow and develop a sustainable, globally competitive life sciences sector in Scotland.
Congratulating the nominees, Rhona Allison, senior director of life and chemical sciences at Scottish Enterprise said: “Scotland is one of Europe’s leading locations for life sciences and has seen unprecedented commercial employment growth over the last few years.
“Yet again the bar was set very high by the strong nominations in each of the award categories. The judges were very impressed with the consistently high standards of innovation and business performance in the award categories.
“The awards recognise the many accomplishments of life sciences companies and business people in Scotland over the past year. The growth, progress and achievements of all our nominees clearly demonstrate the ambition and capability to further develop Scotland’s reputation as an international hub for life sciences.
“I would like to congratulate everyone for making it to this stage and wish them all every success.”
The winners of the awards will be announced at the Scottish Enterprise Life Sciences Annual dinner at Edinburgh International Conference Centre on Thursday 7 February 2013. The keynote speaker will be Professor Anne Glover, chief scientific adviser to the European Commission.
