Scottish Enterprise secures more than double its infrastructure investment

Collaboration delivers strong business environment for Scotland

AFRC Artists impression Front elevationMore than 180 public and private sector partners have joined forces with Scottish Enterprise (SE) over the past year to deliver a first class business environment for Scotland.

The scale of collaboration to improve and enhance Scotland’s physical business infrastructure means the economic development agency has achieved significant results in terms of a return on its investment.

Disclosed as part of its Annual Report and Accounts, the agency has confirmed it has secured more than double its investment in physical development projects during the year 2009/2010, securing £2.70 of partner funds for every £1 it invests.

Allan McQuade, director of business infrastructure, Scottish Enterprise, said: “For our companies and sectors to become globally competitive, it is vital that Scotland has a business environment which can compete with other international locations.

Clyde Waterfront _2 “In an era of increasing budget pressures, we must find new ways for the public and private sector to work together if we are to secure the biggest return from our investment.

 “We aim to achieve at least twice as much as our own investment in our physical projects.  So to achieve almost three times as much in such challenging economic times is a significant achievement and endorsement of Scotland’s ability to return to economic growth post recession.”
