Scottish Enterprise secures new tenant for Prestwick International Aerospace Park

Tannlin, a global manufacturer of laser cut stencils, laser cutting machines and CB assembly tools is relocating from South Newmoor Estate in Irvine to occupy Unit 1A at the Aerospace Park. The company has signed-up for a ten-year lease, with a five-year break option on the new unit which extends to approximately 7,255 sq ft.

Formed in 1998, Tannlin has grown over the years and now has manufacturing facilities based in Scotland, Budapest in Hungary, Hook in Hampshire, plus a sales base in Boston in the USA.

Commenting on the move to Prestwick, Tannlin managing director Graham Hall, said: “The actual location of Prestwick International Aerospace Park was the prime driver, offering us easy access to international networks and also the opportunity to showcase our products and Scotland to our international customers. The base also offers scope for further expansion, as well as providing a pleasant working environment for our employees.”

Scottish Enterprise head of aerospace, defence and marine, Ian McMahon, said: “It is good to see yet another high calibre company in the global aerospace and defence supply chain choosing the Aerospace Park as a base.”

This deal signals good news for both the Scottish and Ayrshire economies added John Scott, MSP for Ayr: “It is encouraging to see a successful Ayrshire company expand within the local area and I wish Tannlin well and hope they will continue to develop at this great site.”

Prestwick International Aerospace Park occupies a strategic location adjacent to Glasgow Prestwick Airport. Identified for aerospace use, Scottish Enterprise has developed modern business units which are available for lease or sale. Goodrich Corporation was the first occupier on the park and has subsequently doubled the size of its initial building to provide a state-of-the-art aerospace Service Centre now comprising 23,225 sq m (250,000 sq ft).

Scottish Enterprise infrastructure project manager, John Fish, added: “We are delighted to have secured this deal, following on from the letting to Veracity earlier this year. The park provides the ideal environment for companies like Tannlin who develop products for several industries, including aerospace. If offers high quality business space for SME businesses within a well-landscaped environment and the remaining business space is generating considerably interest even in today’s very competitive marketplace. A further unit is currently under offer and another unit of 7,255 sq ft is available at quoting rentals in the region of £7 per sq ft.”
