Scottish Enterprise welcomes accelerated investment for key infrastructure projects
One of Scottish Enterprise’s key infrastructure projects will now be completed earlier than expected thanks to a cash injection from the Scottish Government.
On 3 December 2008, Scottish Enterprise welcomed the announcement by the Cabinet Secretary for Finance and Sustainable Growth to bring forward £5 million of funding in 2008/09 to accelerate development of some of its key infrastructure projects, including the SECC Arena Development.
Jack Perry, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise said: “Our infrastructure projects are focused on developing the capabilities of Scotland’s key industries which can have a significant impact on Scotland’s economic performance.
“Today’s announcement means we can accelerate infrastructure development on site, bringing forward completion dates and generating valuable jobs and investment. In the current economic climate, I am sure that this will be welcomed both by industry and our partners.”
The announcement will also support Scottish Enterprise’s wider efforts as part of the Scottish Government’s economic recovery plan to ensure that its business customers are being offered the right type of support to help them through any difficulties.
