Scottish Enterprise welcomes chairman appointment

Scottish Enterprise today (21 January, 2009) welcomed the announcement that Crawford Gillies is to be its new chairman.

Mr Gillies takes over from Sir John Ward who leaves the organisation mid February at the end of his second term as chairman.

Jack Perry, chief executive of Scottish Enterprise, said:  “I am delighted to welcome Crawford as the new chairman of Scottish Enterprise. He will bring a wealth of international and domestic business experience to his new role.  His knowledge and insight into Scotland’s economy through his numerous roles with both global and entrepreneurial companies as well as his time on our International Advisory Board will play a vital role in helping to ensure we respond to the current economic downturn as well as continue to contribute to the Scottish Government’s long term Economic Strategy.  I very much look forward to working with him.

Mr Perry added: “I would also like to take this opportunity to thank Sir John Ward for his continued commitment and leadership over the past five years, during which Scottish Enterprise has refocused its efforts to ensure Scotland can take advantage of all of its assets in helping to develop its economy.”
