Scottish Enterprise welcomes City Garden Project decision

Scottish Enterprise regional director, Maggie McGinlay today welcomed the news that the people of Aberdeen have voted in favour of the City Garden Project.

"We are delighted the public have voted in favour of the City Garden Project Design and would like to take this opportunity to thank the public for their engagement in the City Garden Project. This result underlines the city's aspirations and ambition to transform itself into a vibrant city with the ability to compete on a world stage and will have a significant impact on the immediate and long term investment in Aberdeen city and Shire’s economy.

"This decision allows Aberdeen to gain ‘once in a lifetime’ unprecedented levels of private donations and make a credible bid for Tax Incremental Funding which will capture business rates growth for the benefit of the City. We look forward to continuing our work with Aberdeen City Garden Trust and Aberdeen City Council to deliver the project for the people of Aberdeen and future generations who will be encouraged to live, work and invest here as a result of this decision."
