Scottish Enterprise welcomes Fossil Fuel Levy decision
Extra £103 million funding confirmed by UK Government to support development of Scottish renewables sector.
Scottish Enterprise chief executive, Lena Wilson, has welcomed the decision by UK Government to provide more than £100 million of additional funding for Scottish renewable energy, including marine renewables.
The agreement reached between the UK and Scottish Governments will enable the Scottish Government to access and spend half of the Scottish Fossil Fuel Levy fund, which currently holds around £200 million. The remaining £100 million will be made available to support the capitalisation of the £3 billion UK-wide Green Investment Bank.
Lena Wilson, said: "This is very good news for Scotland's fast emerging renewable energy sector. This additional £103 million will bolster the existing funds already place such as the National Renewables Infrastructure Fund and POWERS Fund resulting in more than £200 million of investment dedicated to supporting Scotland's ambition to become a powerhouse of renewable energy research, innovation, test and manufacturing."
