Scottish Enterprise welcomes £13.5 million Data Lab funding announcement, including £2.5m from SE

The Data Lab today announced that it will receive £13.5m of Scottish Government funding to help enhance data innovation’s economic impact on Scotland, generate jobs and build upon the country’s growing reputation as a world leader in data-driven innovation.

David Smith, Senior Director at Scottish Enterprise, said:

“Scottish Enterprise believes that Scotland has the potential to be the data capital of Europe, which is why we’re committing £2.5m to The Data Lab and helping companies across the country harness the power of data-driven innovation to increase competitiveness, productivity and business growth.

“Scotland is home to a number of successful data-driven businesses and world-class academic institutions that are poised to take full advantage of the data revolution. There’s an estimated economic prize of around £20bn up for grabs over the next five years, and it’s our aim to ensure that Scotland is positioned perfectly to seize it.”
