Scottish Enterprise welcomes Scottish and Southern Energy's investment in Glasgow

Scottish and Southern Energy announced today (7 Oct 2009) the establishment of a Centre of Engineering Excellence for Renewable Energy in Glasgow. The project will create 250 new high-value jobs in the next three years and safeguard 70 more.

Welcoming the news, Adrian Gillespie, Director of Energy at Scottish Enterprise, which has worked closely with the company to bring the new jobs to Glasgow, said:

“This significant investment reinforces Scottish and Southern Energy's commitment to Glasgow and Scotland and is an important development in the realisation of Scotland's ambitions to become a world leader in renewable energy. The continued development of the energy sector through partnership working with the public and private sectors remains key to a sustainable economy and this is an excellent example of this approach.”
