Scottish Enterprise welcomes Steel Engineering Contract
Scottish Enterprise has welcomed the news that Steel Engineering has been selected by Korean giant Samsung Heavy Industries (SHI) to deliver the offshore jacket and transition steelwork for a new wind turbine generator system, being developed at The Energy Park at Methil in Fife
Adrian Gillespie, director of Energy and Low Carbon Technologies at Scottish Enterprise said:
“Scotland is increasingly becoming recognised as a leading global location for the next generation of offshore wind energy, and part of this success is based on the strength of our supply chain.
“It’s extremely gratifying to see a Scottish company like Steel secure significant business as part of Samsung Heavy Industries’ supply chain. Contracts such as this are a significant step towards delivering the ambitious 7 megawatt offshore wind project in Scotland, which SHI intend to manufacture in Methil, creating new employment opportunities in Fife and across Scotland.”
