Scottish Enterprise welcomes Trump golf resort

Scottish Enterprise welcomes the Scottish Government's decision to grant outline planning permission for the application by Trump International Golf Links Scotland to develop a golf resort in Balmedie, Aberdeenshire.

Maggie McGinlay, regional operations director, Scottish Enterprise, said: “This is excellent news for Aberdeen City and Shire and Scotland.

"A development of this scale, from a global brand as famous as Trump International, will have a real impact on driving economic growth in the region and put us on the map for the high-spending visitors we aim to attract as well as other investment in the area and within Scottish tourism.

"Tourism is vitally important to the area and we need to encourage more growth if we are to successfully diversify our economy. Securing this high-quality, large-scale resort development will help us compete with other leading locations around the world, and builds on Scotland’s reputation as the home of golf.

“The Trump International development will be at the heart of Energetica, the north-east’s global hub for the development of energy technologies. A key element of Energetica’s success will be the combination of business space with housing and leisure facilities to create a world class location.

“Scottish Enterprise, alongside our colleagues in Scottish Development International, will now work closely with Trump International to ensure that the development’s vision becomes a reality and it secures the maximum economic impact for Scotland.”
