SE CALLS ON SCOTTISH COMPANIES TO CAPITALISE ON EVENT OPPORTUNITIES

This week Scottish Enterprise will host a conference aimed at encouraging Scottish companies to bid for major domestic and international contracts in the events marketplace.

The free conference, taking place at Glasgow’s Emirates Arena on Thursday 19 May welcomes Scottish businesses of all sizes, who have the relevant skills and experience to apply for large scale contracts at home and abroad.

The event will provide companies with the opportunity to network and will outline types of support available to businesses from Scottish Enterprise, Event Scotland, Glasgow City Council and UKTI. A series of case study presentations will demonstrate what success looks like and will be followed by a panel Q & A to allow delegates the chance to put questions to the experts.

A number of figures from key organisations will address delegates, including Lawrence Wyper, International Networks Team, Scottish Enterprise. Speaking ahead of the conference he said:

“The Conference is an opportunity for Scottish businesses to find out more about the breadth of contract opportunities that exist to support major events, both domestically and across the World. The Commonwealth Games and Ryder Cup during 2014 demonstrated the expertise that Scottish companies have in support of major events, and the Conference is designed to help more companies to consider the real opportunities that major events may offer to grow their business.”

Also on the panel Head of EventScotland, Stuart Turner said:

“Major events are essential to Scotland’s events portfolio, casting a positive light on the country through associated media exposure and, of course, bringing thousands of overseas visitors to the country who utilise our products and services.

“The conference will provide businesses of all sizes with advice and information of the significant opportunity that exists in becoming engaged in the delivery of major events both at home and abroad, reinforcing the overwhelmingly positive impact of major events across the wide spectrum of Scottish business.”
