sensewhere secures Smart:Scotland support for indoor GPS
Edinburgh-based indoor location company secures £600,000 Smart:Scotland grant
senswhere Ltd (formerly SATSIS Ltd), a world leader in hyper-local and indoor positioning solutions today announced that it has secured a £600,000 Smart:Scotland research and development grant from Scottish Enterprise.
sensewhere’s technology, which was developed at the university of edinburgh’s highly rated school of engineering, overcomes the technical challenges of indoor positioning by ‘crowdsourcing’ and referencing all available local wireless access points (waps) and beacons to provide a dynamic database of hyper-local positioning information to the user. uniquely, sensewhere users’ devices automatically update and correct the accuracy of the location networks as they use it
smart:scotland provides discretionary grants to support technical and commercial feasibility studies, and research and development (R&D) projects. Support is available on a discretionary basis at up to 35% of eligible project costs and to be eligible for grants, projects must last between 6 and 36 months.
