Stranraer and Loch Ryan Marine Leisure Tourism Workshop

The new berthing facilities at Stranraer Harbour provide Stranraer and the surrounding area with an exciting opportunity to attract new visitors and help stimulate the development of Stranraer and Loch Ryan as a marine leisure destination.

To help businesses make the most of this new market and to maximise the opportunities Scottish Enterprise and Dumfries and Galloway Council have organised a short workshop to stimulate local interest.

The workshop will be offered on two separate dates and times to accommodate local businesses and will:

  • Examine the marine leisure market
  • Identify the needs of the marine leisure market and potential new business opportunities
  • Explore what Stranraer and the surrounding areas has to offer this market
  • Highlight the benefits of business collaboration
  • Identify the business support available to turn ideas into new products and services

Louise Vickers of Scottish Enterprise said “Installation of the berths at the harbour is an important first step towards realising the vision of Stranraer and Loch Ryan as a marine leisure destination. This workshop will allow local businesses to consider how they might offer new products and services to support this investment”.

Harry Hay of Dumfries and Galloway Council added “These workshops are part of the ongoing commitment to work closely and engage with the business community. Some tremendous views and suggestions have been made by local businesses and this will be a further opportunity to keep momentum going and maximise the impact of the project”.

The workshops are free and will be held at Stranraer Library on:

10.00am – 2.30pm (including sandwich lunch)
