Strong growth recorded following expansion into oil and gas sector

Diversifying into the oil and gas sector has seen Xtreme Business Solutions Ltd more than double its turnover and increase staff levels by 50 per cent over the last three years.

The Aberdeen-based network infrastructure specialist has expanded its traditional customer base from the construction sector into oil and gas with support from Scottish Enterprise. This move has seen the company’s turnover increase from £1.7 million in 2011 to £3.8 million in 2014. In addition, Xtreme Business Solutions, which also has offices in Dalgety Bay, has taken on an additional 16 members of staff, now employing 48 people.

Xtreme Business Solutions managing director, Graeme Duncan, said: “It’s hard to believe where we were just over three years ago. With help from Scottish Enterprise to diversify our business into the oil and gas sector we’ve successfully reassessed our business model and grown our business as a result. We are entering an exciting phase in our development and moving forward, we aim to capitalise on a number of significant international opportunities. We are working closely with Scottish Enterprise’s international arm, Scottish Development International, and its GlobalScot network to support our ambitious plans in this area.”

Supported through the economic development agencies account management programme, the company’s account manager at Scottish Enterprise, Gordon Esslemont, added: “Supporting companies in Scotland to grow is a key part of our business, and working with forward thinking, ambitious companies such as Xtreme Business Solutions, we aim to make a significant and lasting impact on Scotland’s economy.

“Graeme and his management team’s passion for growth has fuelled their success over the last three years and looking ahead they have their sights firmly on international opportunities. Working together, we’re helping the company develop and implement an overseas strategy and are already working with our GlobalScot network to explore the option of creating a satellite office in Houston. In addition, our SDI team is assisting the company in other key markets such as the Middle East, Singapore, Africa, Korea and Europe where they see significant growth opportunities.”

Building its International networks, this month, Xtreme Business Solutions successfully won a fully funded fact finding mission to Dubai, which takes place in June this year. Dubai Tourism, UK and Ireland, supported by Scottish Development International, has organised the mission to support four companies from right across the UK and Ireland to benefit from the vast opportunities in the Middle East market.

Graeme added: “Being selected from many applicants to take part in this fact finding mission to Dubai is a real achievement for a business of our size. It acknowledges the export potential that Scottish Enterprise believes we have. The Middle East is a key strand of our international strategy and it will be great to see first hand how to do business in this important market.”
