Support on offer to Ayrshire businesses battling the oil and gas slowdown

Delivered by Scottish Enterprise, the initiative is part of the Energy Jobs Taskforce which was set up in January 2015 by the Scottish Government to provide support to individuals and companies affected by the slowdown.

The event will provide a mix of insight from industry and company leaders on how they view the current situation; advice from other sectors on how they have dealt with similar challenges well as getting an opportunity to discuss what companies can do to respond to the current challenges in areas such as finance, management and strategy.

The Ayrshire event is the fifth and last in the series which have taken place in locations across Scotland throughout December and January.

David Rennie, head of oil and gas at Scottish Enterprise and who will be chairing the event said:

“We are all well aware of the difficulties that the oil and gas sector is currently facing and the impact that has had on confidence, investment and jobs. Although we live in a price volatile market and the sector has experienced a number of slowdowns over the years, it doesn’t make the decisions that some companies have made any easier or indeed the impact for the individuals concerned.

“These events provide a forum for the supply chain to hear from industry leaders; hear what sort of issues they need to be focusing upon as well as understanding what type of support is available from a range of sources and agencies. We would encourage any company in the area who has oil and gas as part of their order book to consider attending.”
