Union Flag Wenlock statue unveiled at BiP Solutions

Scottish Enterprise chief executive, Lena Wilson, has visited Glasgow-based Business Intelligence company, BiP Solutions to unveil a London 2012 Union Flag Wenlock statue in celebration of the company's key role in delivering community benefits for the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

The company's CompeteFor procurement solution, designed in conjunction with the London Development Agency and the London Business Network, helped open up business opportunities for SMEs and was pivotal in ensuring businesses across the UK were able to benefit from over 12,000 contract opportunities made available from the single largest sporting event ever to be held in the UK.

BiP Solutions played a key role in the design, hosting and management of the portal and also delivered a Buyer Engagement Team aimed at encouraging contractors to publish their opportunities on the portal.

Until the deployment of CompeteFor, no one had attempted to open up all the subcontracting and lower value opportunities within a project’s supply chain to competition by local businesses and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in real time for the construction and set-up of a major event.

BiP Solutions’ involvement in major sporting events is not limited to this year’s Olympic Games, with the recent delivery of the Glasgow 2014 tendering website which will be used for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games (businessopportunities.glasgow2014.com).
