Up to 200 new jobs as Aquira locates in Glasgow

Direct marketing firm to create 'sales lab' at Pacific Quay

One of the UK’s leading direct marketing firms will create up to 200 jobs in Glasgow as it continues to develop a new 'sales lab' at Pacific Quay.

Aquira specialises in customer and lead generation; as well as in creating opportunities for up-selling and cross-selling to existing customers.

Established in 2007, the company had reached a stage in its development at which it needed a location to accommodate both the present business and future growth plans.

Regional selective assistance funding of £500,000 helped the company create the first 60 new jobs as part of those plans; and Aquira intends to create up to 200 positions at the Glasgow base over time.

Welcoming the news, Scotland's First Minister Alex Salmond said: "This is fantastic news for Glasgow, creating a very welcome boost to the local economy and presenting new business opportunities in the heart of the city’s digital district.

“I know Aquira have spent two years looking for just the right location to site their new specialist sales facility and it’s no surprise to those of us familiar with Glasgow’s skilled and dedicated workforce that they’ve chosen Scotland’s biggest city.”

Marilyn Barnes, MD of Aquira, said: “Glasgow has a growing reputation as a great place to do business - that’s why we chose it. Our decision is based on extensive research and is a strong reflection on the city’s commercial status and the highly skilled nature of the local workforce."

Lena Wilson, Chief Executive of Scottish Enterprise, said:“Aquira is a forward-looking and ambitious business with excellent potential for growth. Our partnership has already resulted in new, high-quality jobs for Glasgow. We look forward to continuing to work with Aquira as the business develops, and to sharing more successes in the future.
