First in UK for Inward Investment

The World Bank has ranked Scottish Development International (SDI) sixth in the world for its work in attracting overseas investment to Scotland.

Scottish Development International’s promotion of Scotland as a place to do business has created more then £500 million of planned investment while creating and safeguarding over 4000 jobs, including almost 2000 high value jobs, First Minister Alex Salmond announced today.

Scotland will play host to some of the world’s most influential business leaders this month with the Forbes CEO Forum. The conference will bring more than 200 delegates, from leading European and global companies, academia and government to the country to discuss global innovation as part of Homecoming Scotland 2009.

 
 
 

Areas of West Scotland partner across Northern Ireland and Border Region of Ireland in EU funding opportunity.

The Special EU Programmes Body has been highlighting opportunities for projects in the islands and west of Scotland to access funding through the European Union’s INTERREG lVA programme by partnering with organisations in Northern Ireland and the Border Region of Ireland.

Livingston-based Optocap Limited has been purchased from Scottish Enterprise through a management buy-out, it was announced today (8 June 2009).

The company was set up in 2003 as a wholly owned subsidiary of Scottish Enterprise to address the gap in packaging and assembly services in the optoelectronics and microelectronics supply-chain.
