Tackling corrosion issues and developing new materials in the wave, tidal and offshore wind sectors across Europe could save up to £74 billion for developers and create up to £72 billion of supply chain opportunities by 2050, according to two new reports published today.

The Collaborative Economy and Scottish Tourism Report, commissioned by Scottish Enterprise, the Scottish Tourism Alliance and the Scottish Government, is released this morning at the annual ETAG (Edinburgh Tourism Action Group) conference at the McEwan Hall, Edinburgh.  Peter Jordan, of international research and insight agency Toposophy will share findings with senior representatives from Edinburgh’s tourism industry as they meet to explore the key issues and opportunities arising from Edinburgh’s ongoing success as a visitor destination.

Edinburgh-based Sofant Technologies Ltd has secured nearly £800K of new investment in an over-subscribed funding round from angel syndicates Kelvin Capital Ltd, Newable and Investing Women as well as Old College Capital and Scottish Investment Bank.

The Scottish Investment Bank (SIB) has completed a follow-on investment of £300k into existing portfolio company Curo Compensation Ltd.

More than 70 jobs have been secured, and further roles created, at a Dumfries manufacturing plant, with a grant to support innovation. DuPont Teijin Films (DTF) will increase their manufacturing capabilities with the £967,955 Scottish Enterprise funding.
